Serhii Pyvovarov (b. 1960, Khmelnytskyi Region, Ukraine) graduated in 1983 from the Chernivtsi State University with a major in history.
Until his appointment to the Kyiv-Pechersk Preserve, Pyvovarov worked as Assistant to the Director of the National Kyiv-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Preserve for many years. Between 1983 and 2013, he was assistant; Associate Professor and served as head of the Department of Ethnology, Ancient and Medieval history; Vice Dean for Research, Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations, National University of Chernivtsi.
A member of specialist thesis defence committees for the awarding of degrees of doctor of sciences and candidate of historical sciences at the Institute of Archaeology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and Lesya Ukrainka Eastern European National University, deputy editor of several journals, and a member of the Ukrainian Union of Archaeologists.
